Welcome

This is the home of my recently (almost) completed project MEGA MAME. A mame arcade cabinet. If you don't know what mame is have a look here.

As I got most of my information and inspiration off these here lovely internets, I thought I would give a little back and document as much of the project as I could. The cabinet has taken a long time to get to its current near-final stage, probably 3-4 years....probably longer!

The Dream

Being a child of the 80's I have fond memories of spending tons of my parents hard earned cash down the local arcades. To have my own cabinet was naturally a dream.

I had used mame for years but it was never quite the same without the sticks and the buttons. There is just something about hammering away at those buttons that just feels right!

After years of thinking about it I finally got round to designing one. Luckily I had been using Google Sketchup (although it was @Last at the time I think) for a few bits at work so I got to work on a design.

Here is a video of my sketchup designs.

This is not quite the final design but not far off. The artwork is a bit different too.

Im almost happy with the final result. There is loads I would love to change about it, maybe next decade! Before I go on I must say one of the best resources I used throughout this project were the forums on Build Your Own Arcade Controls. Check em out.
